Artist Statement

I chose macro photography as my project topic. Since I was a child I have always had a keen interest in nature and science. While the guys I worked with would read the Sports Monday section of the New York Times, I would wait for Tuesday to read the Science Times section. My eye is drawn to patterns, details, geometry. I can see the forest – and love landscape photography – but I can also see the details in the trees. Macro photography is the intersection of my fascination with nature and my penchant for seeing the intricate details in the larger world around me.

Biography

My wife and I are empty nesters and I work as an investment manager for a large financial institution here in Columbus. Born and raised in NYC and on Long Island, I made my way to Columbus OH after living in Connecticut for most of the ’90s. My interest in photography began in high school with the purchase of a Minolta camera. I quickly became interested in nature and landscape photography, photographing the area around my home on the Island’s North shore. Over the years my photographic interests have expanded to include macro and close-ups, abstract/still life, travel and street photography.
