Artist Statement

THANK YOU is the culmination of a six-month project that examines the art of writing a thank you note. I photographed people in the location of their choosing, and shared in the intimacy of the story of who they were saying thank you to, and the reason why.

The concept stemmed from my collection of lovely boxed sets of Thank You cards that regretfully, I have not sent out as often as I should have. In an ideal world, we would all send a thank you in a timely manner to someone who has given a gift, done something special for us, or been an important person in our life we want to acknowledge.
.

This project is to honor the art of saying thank you, and hopefully resurrect within all of us that beyond social graces, taking a few minutes of our time to send a note to someone, especially in a digital age, can have a long lasting impact on others. Saying thank you crosses generations, cultures, religions, and unifies us all.
