Engaging with Engaging People

Artist

George Vaughan

Project Note(s)

Street photography with 120 Black & White Film

Artist Statement

“We often see people on the street that appear interesting but that we have no reason to interact with. In this project, I used my camera as a means to engage people I did not know, but had what I felt to be engaging qualities. I asked each stranger permission to photograph him or her, and only did so, if granted. I was amazed by the connection I felt to these strangers because of their willingness to give me their time and their trust in me to capture their image.”

Biography

After working with film for many years, George switched to digital photography in 2004, and hasn’t looked back – until January of 2017, when he purchased a used film camera. He is now working on several film-based projects.
